Germany Round 1

This week marks my first race in Germany. I have been planning this trip for a long time and I have talked about it a lot longer.
For the people who don’t know, I was born in Germany, and for a long time have been trying to plan a trip to race in Germany. Having two nationalities gives me the opportunity to race for either the United States or Germany.
The past months for me have been stressful in part because I have been researching all the detail for participating in a race. After finding out I would need a German club to race for, I began looking for a club. I began my search in the city where I was born because I thought it would be cool. Why not, right!. I found a team, started emailing, in English because I didn’t learn German as a kid. I got a response the next day and the lady began letting me know what I would have to do to be part of the team. After much messaging back and forth, I sent the paper work over to Germany.
This process took a long time, but now I am part of a club called VfL Sindelfingen and I will be racing at their facility called the GlasPalast.
Thursday is my flight across the Atlantic Ocean for the first time in 15 years. I will be staying with some family friends/old neighbors who haven’t seen me since I was a few months old. Should be an interesting weekend!
When I get back I will type up a quick update, hopefully with some good news.
